Welcome to the Dallas Downriver Club If you'd like to make new friends who share your love of paddling, or want to learn a new river sport, then join us. Beginner or expert, single or family, young or just young at heart, if you're looking for wild whitewater exhilaration or quiet flat water floats, we look forward to paddling with you! Dallas, Texas is certainly no Mecca of river sports, but some folks who insist on living here do manage to find time and places to paddle anyway. If not the nearby flat water streams of East and North Texas, then a 3-5 hour drive to Arkansas, Oklahoma or the Hill Country will usually do the trick. There's Saturday morning "Urban Paddles", weekend or multi - day base camping and river camping trips, fishing expeditions, summertime Moonlight Floats, River Cleanups, Caddoween and much more. There are occasionally even expedition trips to The Boundary Waters, Big Bend, New Mexico, Colorado...all over the country. The Dallas Downriver Club (DDRC) is a not for profit 501(c) 7 club that has a close knit group of members who like to canoe, kayak and camp along beautiful river banks. Currently we host about 12 to 15 paddling events a year. Each member is responsible for supply their own watercraft and camping gear. Our trips (events) are for members only except for local "Urban Paddles" and our yearly "Caddoween" event at Caddo Lake. Urban Paddles are usually on Saturday or Sunday mornings at a local river or lake. Urban Paddle events are only 3 or 4 hours long and are a great opportunity to meet and greet current members and new member prospects. The DDRC is also a proud member/sponsor of the Trinity River Coalition , a group working with local governments to improve recreational access to the East,West and Elm forks of the Trinity River in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. |
