The Trinity River Challenge is an 11.8 mile paddle sport race held every September to raise money for the river related causes that the DDRC supports. The race course is a stretch of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River between Carrollton and Lewisville, Texas.
The race is run as an up and back race starting and finishing at McInnish Park. This eliminates the need for shuttling
The race has grown in popularity and participation over the last few years and now has participation of up to 150 paddlers each year.
For their entry fee and participation, the racers receive a Trinity River Challenge T-shirt and a hot lunch. T-shirt quantities are limited, so anybody registering early will be guaranteed a T-shirt, and the remaining quantities will be made available to registrants on a first come basis.
Racers compete in a wide range of boat classes in the Men's and Women's Solo Canoe and Kayak and Mixed Tandem Canoe and Kayak Divisions out for a day of fun on the river Special awards are also given for the fastest times by age groups and the overall fastest time.
Not a racer? Fear not, as the TRC needs more that a few good volunteers to help with all sorts of things on Race Day. Racers get a free tee shirt and lunch, what a deal! Sign up to volunteer on the race entry page when registration opens.
