A few of your DDRC members (Dale, Alex, Teresa, Kristi) along with Trinity Coalition will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Trinity River National Water Trail. The overall plan is to have 4 or 5 ceremonies for the cities along the paddling Trail. So far we have one planned for June 18th at 10am in Lewisville at Hebron Parkway and one for June 25th at 10am for Dallas at Trammell Crow Park and boat ramp. The original ceremonies were postponed due to Covid.
I’m asking that 10 or 12 members from the Dallas Downriver Club will consider attending the event at Lewisville. Please bring your canoes and kayaks – if nothing else for show. The DDRC members mentioned above along with myself are the core team that documented all the access locations, water hazards and distances between each access location along the river. And with that documentation convinced the National Park Service to designate the Trinity River and its branches in the DFW area as a National Water Trail.
Lewisville has the best ADA canoe / kayak launch on the 130 mile trail. It would be nice if we could show some appreciation. I’m hopping Fort Worth and Irving will also have a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Agenda:
Start: 10:05 am
Regards, Dale
