Trip Description:

The “Day after Christmas Paddle has changed from Elm Park / Dimension Tract to McInnish Park. The Elm Park launch was damaged by the last couple of high water events. The launch Hebron Parkway also has some damage – it's became dislodged.

From McInnish Park we’ll paddle upstream and back. Since we won’t be running a shuttle and it is expected to be chilly we’ll plan on meeting at 11am. Those of you who are interested we’ll paddle up Denton Creek into Hidden Lake and have a picnic lunch on the lake shore.  Bring your lunch and a roll-up chair. After lunch you can paddle up Denton Creek or up the Elm Fork – hopefully to a sunny afternoon.

There is very little current on this section of the Elm Fork so any type of canoe or kayak will be fine. For those of you who have long touring kayaks this is an ideal place to bring them.

Due to the expected cold weather please dress appropriately, no cotton clothing, warm paddling boots, have a change of clothing in case you do get wet, water resistant gloves if you have them.

Directions:

From President George Bush or I-35E, in Carrollton, go west on Sandy Lake Rd. When you see the bridge over the Elm Fork of the Trinity turn left into McInnish Sports Complex, make an immediate right and follow the road under Sandy Lake Rd to the canoe / kayak launch.
