Urban Paddle / Fort Worth Nature Center

Meet with DDRC VP, Alfred Arriaga, for a DDRC Urban Paddle at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge located at 9601 Fossil Ridge Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76135. This a beautiful park and nature center located on Lake Worth. There is a $5 entry fee to the nature center. There is only one floating boat dock in the nature preserve it is called the Big River boat dock. Plan on arriving a little before 10am on December 4^th at the boat dock / parking lot.

We will paddle northwest toward Eagle Mountain Lake Dam. Then back to the put-in and have lunch at the picnic tables near the boat dock.

This is basically still water with an abundance of wildlife, including a few alligators.  Almost any type of canoe or kayak will do as there aren’t any hazards.

Please bring a picnic lunch if you wish to join everyone for lunch, plenty of drinking water, your camera and your PFD.

Directions to Trail:
From I-820 just west of Fort Worth take Rt 199 / Jacksboro Hwy northwest approximately 3 miles.
Take the Buffalo Rd Exit. At Buffalo Rd turn Northeast into the Fort Worth Nature Center
There is $5 entrance fee for the Nature Center
Once in the Nature Center follow the signs to the Big River boat ramp. Not the Greer Island Trail parking lot.
Launch Description: Floating Dock with a lower section near the water level for easy put-in and take-out.  This location does have restroom facilities
